Barrie School selects team of Flansburgh Architects and McGraw Bagnoli Architects to design new lower school building

The Barrie School, a co-educational, college preparatory, independent day school in Silver Spring, MD recently selected the team of Flansburgh Architects and McGraw Bagnoli following a nationwide search for a team that could combine cutting edge sustainable design for K-12 schools with a firm that understands the nuanced process of designing and building within Montgomery County, Maryland.  The school, which serves approximately 350 students from age 18 months through grade 12, is located on a 45-acre campus that provides space for learning, play, and exploration.  The campus is also home to the Barrie Camp and the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies.

The new lower school building, which will be designed to nestle within a heavily wooded portion of campus, will include 7 new Montesorri classrooms and common gathering spaces.  The teaming of Flansburgh Architects Incorporated, a Boston, MA based firm that brings extensive experience designing public, private and international K-12 Schools with McGraw Bagnoli is the result of a longstanding association between Flansburgh President David Croteau, AIA, LEED-AP and MBA Principal David C. Bagnoli, AIA, LEED-AP.
