We couldn’t have been more pleased to be recognized by AIA Northern Virginia (NOVA) in their 2021 Design Awards program with their highest award in Historic Preservation.  The jury commended the team’s deep research, removal of multiple layers of unsympathetic additions, on-site rehabilitation of original elements and modern insertion of a new glass box into the Oyster Shed as a “labor of love”.  Citing the project as the centerpiece of the new Fish Market (also by StudioMB), the jury acknowledged that buildings like this don’t always stay, and in fact are torn down all the time.
