Washington Youth
Garden Pavilion
The National Arboretum, Washington DC
When asked to collaborate with the Weissberg Foundation and the Washington Youth Garden at the National Arboretum we knew we couldn't pass on the opportunity to create this outdoor classroom as a gift to the kids in the National Capital region. The structure serves as a teaching tool illustrating how buildings work with the environment. With an inverted roof for rainwater capture, integrated rain cisterns and natural materials, the structure sits lightly on the land and allows for a variety of teaching configurations. Our success on this project has been the direct result of our collaboration with the client, US Commission of Fine Arts and builder.
We are grateful to have collaborated with Added Dimensions Construction and Roy Thillberg on the construction of this wonderful gift to the city!
